A cozy, no-fuss comfort meal featuring tender boneless chicken simmered in creamy, flavorful gravy made with simple pantry staples, cooked low and slow in a slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1.74 ounces chicken gravy mix or brown gravy mix (or a mix of both)
  • 10 ounces cream of chicken soup
  • 1 ¾ cups water or chicken stock
  • ⅓ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add gravy mix packets, cream of chicken soup, water or chicken stock, and black pepper to a 6-quart (or larger) slow cooker; whisk until smooth and creamy.
  2. Nestle boneless chicken breasts into the gravy mixture, pressing them down so the chicken is mostly covered.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours, or until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  4. Verify the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F before removing from the slow cooker.

Notes

Make sure the chicken stays mostly covered in the gravy mixture to keep it moist and tender., Check internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure safe doneness., Whisk gravy mix and liquid well before adding chicken to meld flavors evenly., Double or triple recipe for larger groups, ensuring slow cooker capacity., Bone-in chicken can be used but will require longer cooking time., Cream of chicken soup can be swapped with cream of mushroom, celery, or other condensed soups for flavor variation., Add cream cheese during last half hour for a richer gravy., Use bone broth instead of water or stock for depth and protein boost., Add pinch of cayenne, crushed red pepper, or hot sauce for heat.
